Enforcing the protection of Cultural and Historical Heritage during periods of crisis and conflicts, upholding multicultural values
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is a special UN body, a global leader in achieving peace and security by creating the conditions for dialogue among people, cooperation through cultures, education, sciences and communication based upon respect for universally shared values. Since 1945, UNESCO has upheld the value of multiculturalism and invented the notion of „World Heritage” to protect the world’s most valuable items. Endangerment of rejecting and devastation of Cultural and Historical Heritage is a crucial issue during the periods of crisis and conflicts. It could be the reason of diversity falling into scarcity and intolerance. In regions affected by armed conflict and lacking the presence of a strong state, cultural artefacts are endangered of being trafficked on a black market. What is more occurrence of heritage destructions increased because of terrorist groups, who had attacked museums and cultural artefacts? Cultural and Historical Heritages are important indicators that deeply express cultures’ identity. That is why our purpose during meetings would be making appropriate resolution to safeguard cultural and historical heritage, which have a great significance, during times of crisis in order to endure the longevity of human progress and civilization. In the times of multiculturalism there would be various ideas and proposals for solving the issue.
We strongly recommend further research on the topic and if there would be any questions, do not hesitate to ask. It is our duty to find a solution in solving this problem. The Chairs are hoping for the impassioned debate and are believing that conference will be productive.
